Beginning January 9, 2015, the Video Association of Dallas (VAD) will present the Dallas Medianale at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary (the MAC).
The Dallas Medianale will comprise installations, screenings, and intermedia performances in the galleries and black box theater of the MAC, showcasing works by internationally renowned artists. We will revisit pioneering computer films alongside bleeding-edge experiments in moving images and interactivity. Works will range from iconic achievements in early video art to immersive performances with radical repurposing of obsolete video technology.
Artists will include !MedienGruppe Bitnik, Francis Alÿs, Cécile B. Evans, Kyle Evans + James Connolly/Cracked Ray Tube, Harun Farocki, Gary Hill, Liz Larsen/LZX Industries, Dani Leventhal, Jodi Mack, Sean Miller, My Barbarian, Bruce Nauman, Tara Nelson, Laure Prouvost, Sheila + Nicholas Pye, Jennifer Reeder, Michael Robinson, Lillian Schwartz, Joe Sola, Micah Stansell, Deborah Stratman, Harm van den Dorpel, Stan Vanderbeek, Addie Wagenknecht + Pablo Garcia, John Whitney, and many more. Curated by Michael A. Morris, Carolyn Sortor, and Danielle Avram Morgan + Charles Dee Mitchell.
'Til then, check out one of the trailers made especially for the Medianale (and see more of them here).

The Video Association of Dallas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1987 and is widely recognized as one of the first and most important proponents and exhibitors of video and new media art in the world. VAD’s mission is to promote an understanding of video as a creative medium and cultural force in our society and to support and advance the work of artists working in video and the electronic arts. Through its screenings and exhibitions, VAD seeks to bring to the attention of artists, curators, patrons, and the public works of great merit or importance but that might not otherwise be seen any time soon in the southwestern U.S. VAD also produces the annual Dallas VideoFest.
