PLS, I'M TRYING TO THINK INSTITUTE

MISSION

We believe art is as important to survival as math or any other discipline. We applaud all efforts to create, transmit, or preserve knowledge or beauty, and we engage in some of those that involve art, because that's what we like.

We currently define "art" as anything that involves expression by non-literal means (i.e., all forms of expression). We believe nothing can't be art (everything may already be art).***

***Whether it's good art is another question.
Beauty is truth, truth beauty . . . – John Keats, "Ode on a Grecian Urn" (1919);
which will suffice for now as license to say, nothing "true" can't be good art
(everything may already be good art). That said, right now, we're more interested in
stuff produced through conscious effort, even if its most important meanings
were created unconsciously.
